Simply put, a value proposition is defining exactly what product or service you offer and what sets it apart from the competition. Developing this value proposition may seem useless or counterintuitive but is important to not assume anything about your target market. Your target market does not want to sift through the information you provide to figure out if it is the right fit. Your target audience wants a unique and to the point explanation focusing on the needs your followers have identified. By the end of this article, you will have a clear understanding of how to incorporate a value proposition of your own into your business.

First things first, you must do your homework to uncover the needs of your followers, along with an idea of their motivations, goals, and online shopping behaviors. With this knowledge, you will be much better equipped to align your value proposition to match these characteristics. Don’t get it twisted, it is important to explain your product or service, but if it does not align with the needs of your followers you will have lost your shot to convert them into customers.

Secondly, you don’t want to scare off your followers by coming off too aggressive or salesly. People do not want to follow your page to only view content related to making a purchase. This is where free value comes in. By offering free and engaging content that benefits your followers, they will have an idea of what you provide and trust that your product or service will live up to their expectations.

The beauty of a value proposition is how easy it sounds compared with how difficult it is to do correctly. In short, focus on what your users want to see. As your business gets more established on Social Media, it will become easier for you to create and adapt your value proposition to fit the needs of your growing client base.
